Protest in Jamia Millia Islamia for misleading information about B.E courses

Jamia Millia IslamiaJamia Millia Islamia, one of the esteemed central University is facing dissent from BE students regarding the status of their course. According to the All India Council for technical education (AICTE) website, the course taught in the evening is a Part Time course. The officials are withholding crucial information regarding the status of the course. The website, admission prospectus, fee slip and results do not have Part Time course mentioned anywhere, students are concerned about the future of their degree.

Jamia Millia Islamia ProtestThe students have been protesting for the pastĀ two days in front of gate no. 7 with their demands to approve Full Time status for BE courses. A protest march has been organised throughout the Jamia campus towards the VC office to highlight the issue regarding the status.

Jamia Millia Islamia Night StayThe outcry began when AICTE changed the status of all the BE courses asĀ  Part Time. The students requested the faculty officials to clarify the issue but after receiving misleading response from the authorities, the students are finally out to protest against the decision. As result, classes have been suspended and a large number of students are out to support the cause.

The pamphlet that has been distributed during the protests demands the following questions to be answered:

  • Why has the Jamia Millia Islamia Administration not mentioned the Part-Time Status of the BE Evening course in the Admission Slip, Fee Slip and prospectus?
  • If According to Jamia Administration the B.E Course is approved for the Job Holders, then why is the admission being given to Freshers?
  • Has the Jamia University taken proper permission from AICTE to admit freshers in the B.E course?
  • The Jamia M.Arch Course is also conducted in the evening from 5:30 pm- 9:00 pm and has a Full Time Status, then why does the B.E Course is not Full Time?
  • Aligarh Muslim University also conducts B.E. course from 5:15 pm – 10:15 pm and has a Full Time Status, then why had the Jamia University not done the same for B.E Course?

The pamphlet also consists of a single demand to change the Status of the B.E. Course in AICTE records from Part Time to Full Time.

As a result of this protest, the officials have drafted the letter for AICTE regarding the issue and planned to meet and discuss the same.

  1. Jamia administration says BE has been Part Time since initialisation of the course, then why the hell they didn’t mention it anywhere. Because they are lying, if a course is part time then it is mentioned in the prospectus as in the case Mtech(Environmental Science & Engineering), page no. 18, Propectus 2018-19. And there is no part time mentioned in any of any BE disciple.
